Step 1:
Insert the cutter into the drill chuck and tighten. |
Step 2:
With the block over a hole or soft surface, engage the drill at full speed and press
firmly. Usually you will want to hold the block you are using. |
Step 3:
Remove the plug. This step is made easier if the cutter is dipped in soapy
water before the plug is cut. |
Step 4:
Push a bodkin through the center of the plug. A long needle about the diameter
of the prepared hook shank works best. |

Step 5:
Heat the end of the bodkin and pull back through the plug. A candle works as well as the
alcohol lamp. |
Step 6:
After pushing onto the mandrel of the high speed rotary tool, shape with sandpaper. A
sanding block helps. Fine sandpaper (220 to 300 grit) works best. Tool should run at
at least 4,000 RPM. |

Step 7:
Prepare the hook shank(in this case a tail was added) and coat with a thin layer of
epoxy.
Step 8:
Slide the body over the hook shank. Use a round toothpick to remove any
excess epoxy.
