Send as HTMLOutlook Express lets you create and view e-mail in HTML instead of just in plain text. To create an HTML message, click the Compose Message button on the main menu. In the New Message window, select Rich Text (HTML) from the Format menu. A new toolbar appears that contains standard HTML formatting buttons for fonts, lists, bullets, lines, links and images. You can use these buttons to create slick HTML email that your recipients can view either in HTML-ready e-mail programs or in a Web browser. You can permanently change the settings (to send all your e-mail (or news) in HTML or Plain Text) by selecting Tools > Options from the menu, on the Send tab you can choose how you want to send your e-mail and news. Add SubfoldersTo quickly add a new subfolder to your standard set of mail folders, right-click the folder you want to use as the parent, then select New Folder. Enter the new folder's name and click OK. Mail & News - Use multiple AccountsWhen you first start Outlook Express you will be prompted to create your first account. To add more, open Outlook Express Mail. Then select Tools > Accounts from the Outlook Express menu. Click the Add button, then select Mail, News or Directory Service to create a new account. A Wizard steps you through the process of creating the new account. When the Wizard finishes, click the Close button in the Internet Accounts dialog box. To check mail in any or all of your accounts, select Tools > Send and Receive from the Outlook Express menu and choose either All Accounts or an individual account name (If you press the Send and Receive button on the Toolbar, Outlook Express will check all accounts). You can also exclude one (or more) accounts from being updated when you choose to Send and Receive All accounts (or press the Send and Receive button on the Toolbar). To do this, simply select Tools > Accounts from the menu, double-click the Account you want to exclude, and on the General tab, uncheck the box Include this account when doing a full Send and Receive. How to make an e-mail templateIf you want to preserve some time (who doesn't) you can prepare a template e-mail message. First in Outlook Express (although it probably works in other e-mail programs as well), start a new message (press the Compose New Message button. In this message you can select the Stationary you want to use, the signature and/or any other standard text you want to send with all your messages. Now save your message (click File > Save As, and give it a name (save as a *.eml type). Add a shortcut (or the file itself) to your Quick Launch bar (\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch), or on the Desktop. Now if you want to send a new message, just click the shortcut. Some people have been complaining that it is not possible to send a CC (Carbon Copy) or BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) of all outgoing messages to an other e-mail address, well now you can! Using the template just add the address you want to send the CC or BCC to, and safe it. Adding attachmentsStart a new message, then drag and drop a file from Windows Explorer into the mail composition window. Using this method, you can highlight files, and drag and drop in one operation. How to change the New Mail Notification soundIf you want to change the sound which playes when new mail arrives, don't go looking in Outlook Express! You have to change a Windows sound event.
