Uploading with the Netscape Navigator Publishing Feature
(as used in the Netscape Communicator package)

The Netscape Navigator Publishing Feature, as used in the Netscape Communicator package, is convenient for publishing files from your PC to your Web site. You can choose to upload an entire folder (directory) from your system, or just a file if you like. However, unlike an FTP program, the Netscape Publishing feature does not offer the ability to see a clear listing of what files are on the J
VLNET server side as well as on your own hard drive. We highly recommend use of an FTP program such as WS_ftp, which can be downloaded here..

Uploading
In order to upload Web pages with Netscape's Publishing feature, you must enter the following:
  1. The Page Title can be whatever you want.
  2. The HTML Filename should be the name of the file you want to upload (as in our example below, if you are uploading your homepage, name it index.htm).
  3. The HTTP or FTP Location to publish to should be www.jvlnet.com/~your username.
  4. The User name should be your JVLNET username (all in lower case).
  5. The Password should be your JVLNET password (all in lower case). Check the Save Password box if you wish.

Click OK, and the information should publish to your site.

Viewing Uploaded Files on the Web
Any files that you upload will be viewable in a Web browser by entering the following address:

http://www.jvlnet.com/~username/the file's name

Example
your username = "bob" the file's name = "fred.htm" Enter: http://www.jvlnet.com/~bob/fred.htm

Making Your Homepage
When you create your Web site, be sure to name your homepage index.html. This will make your homepage address:

http://www.jvlnet.com/~your username

Example
your username = "bob" Your homepage address: http://www.jvlnet.com/~bob

If you don't name your homepage index.html, typing in your Web address will not automatically bring up your homepage.
