Uploading Web Pages with
Fetch (for Mac users):

In order to upload Web
pages with Fetch, follow the instructions shown below.
Start the Fetch program.
On the New Connection... screen,
enter the following:
- The Host should be www.jvlnet.com
- The User ID should be your JVLNET username
(all in lower case).
- The Password should be your JVLNET password (all in lower case).
- The Directory should be left blank.
Click OK.
After you click OK in the New
Connection... screen above, Fetch will connect to JVLNET's server and display your
directory on our server. Your directory will appear on the left hand side of the window.
Click Put File... to navigate your directory of files.
In the window below, you can navigate your
system to find the files you want to upload.
Highlight and double click the file(s) you want to move to your site.
In the Put File box, do the following:
- For Save file on loginid as:,enter the
name of the file you want to upload (as in our example below, if you are uploading your homepage, name it index.html).
- For HTML files and other text files, set the Format
pull down menu to Text. -OR- For image files, set the Format pull down menu to
Raw Data.
Click OK.
Once the transfer is complete, you will see your
file in the window, showing that it is now on our server.
Viewing Uploaded Files on the Web
Any files that you upload
will be viewable in a Web browser by entering the following address:
http://www.jvlnet.com/~username/the file's name
Example
your username = "bob" the file's name = "fred.htm" Enter:
http://www.jvlnet.com/~bob/fred.htm
Making Your Homepage
When you create your Web
site, be sure to name your homepage index.html. This will make your homepage
address:
http://www.jvlnet.com/~your
username
Example
your username = "bob" Your homepage address: http://www.jvlnet.com/~bob
If you don't name your
homepage index.html, typing in your Web address will not automatically bring up
your homepage.
